Our Portfolio as Kalamazoo Custom Home Builders
As custom home builders, we constantly strive to make every project the best version of itself. To do so, we use your vision and our expertise to create a home that feels truly magnificent. That being said, custom home building is always easier said than done. It’s a complex process that requires a strong vision from our clients and an iterative problem-solving and brainstorming among our sub-contractors.
As you might expect, the process of taking your dream home from concept to reality is extensive. However, our professionals are uniquely prepared for every step of the process, and our clients always end up satisfied.
In this month’s blog post, we’ll be reflecting on three custom homes in our portfolio. That way, we can share the many different types of custom homes we’ve built, and what we can build for you.
East Long Lake Drive: A Custom Lake Home
Featured in the 2021 Parade of Homes, the completion of this custom lake home was an important project to us. Our founder, Jim Roberts, passed away during the process of constructing this home, leaving the rest of our team to take up the project and continue on. With the guidance of Eric Magnuson and the vision left by Jim Roberts, our team was able to finish what has become one of our best homes to date.
East Long Lake Drive is particularly notable for its 22-foot high open ceiling, breathtaking window views of the lake, and floor-to-ceiling fireplace.

118th Avenue: A Modern Farm Home
If you’re more interested in a modern farm home than custom lake homes, then you may be interested to know about our work on 118th Ave.
This home is a 1-story farmhouse with a modern design, which is complemented by a 2-car garage and 480 square foot bonus bedroom. In addition to the homey feel and vaulted ceilings, this home also includes a Great Room displaying an exposed beam and even a geothermal heating and cooling system.

Q Ave: A Traditional 2 Story Home with a Custom Twist
Our Q Ave home is a more traditional American 2 story home with personalized additions. This home features a wide open kitchen design, modern fireplace, and even a built-in library. We also constructed Q Ave with a large walk-in shower and separate bathtub. As custom home builders, we also loved working on Q Ave because of its exceptional masonry work and beautiful copper gutters.
