When we started the search process for building a custom lake house, we focused on searching companies with established experience and credibility in lake house construction. We looked at both large companies and independent contractors and Jim Roberts provided us with the level of information and showed the level of expertise we were looking for and felt comfortable with. They helped us understand design implications vs cost from the very beginning which was valuable to keep us within the budget for the construction. We were highly satisfied with the level of workmanship and details throughout the design and construction process. Structural details exceeded codes and finishing both outside and inside of the house were of highest quality. We’ve loved living in the house! It’s been highly rewarding starting your own design for a house, exactly as you envision it and partner with the right construction company to make it to your specifications! It was hard work on both us as owners and the company in ensuring they were capturing the essence of we wanted but at the end of the day it was totally worth it!

About half way thru the construction process, unfortunately Jim Roberts passed. This was a very difficult and stressful moment for us as owners. Fortunately for us, both the staff at Jim Roberts Construction and Eric Magnuson took full responsibility to drive the construction of the house to completion, still within the originally scheduled time!. We are so grateful that, as we formally moved to work with Magnuson Build & Design, they took this project as a labor of love and exceeded all our expectations! We have already shared our story with other friends and family and know about the great job that Magnuson Build & Design did for us! Thank you!

After considering an extensive remodel of our home for many years, in 2022 we decided to start looking for a contractor.  We were familiar with home remodeling projects.  We completed 2-bathroom remodels, a kitchen remodel, and a basement remodel in another home we owned. We met Eric of Magnuson Build and Design in August 2022 after attending The Parade of Homes.  We knew right away from the quality of the construction that we wanted Eric and his crew to do the extensive remodel of our home.

Eric and his staff worked closely with us.  They helped us keep within our budget, and throughout the project they were highly communicative.  Eric’s office staff, Lauren and Stephanie, were amazing to work with and were quick to respond to our questions.  We always knew where we stood with the project budget and when the next phase of the project was going to start. Eric’s sub-contractors were friendly, excellent to work with, and did great workmanship.  Any small issue we found during our walk-throughs was rectified immediately.

We would recommend Magnuson Build and Design to our friends and family, and more importantly if another project presented itself, Magnuson Build and Design would be our first call.

We love our new home built by MB&D . It is beautiful and universally designed to let us live here over the years to come. We would recommend MB&D to others. We also worked with MB&D to remodel our lower level to include a home office and fireplace which added great function and value to the house. This process was an efficient and good experience.

I would like to take this opportunity to personally thank Eric Magnuson and the crew of professionals at MB&D Magnuson Build & Design.  My wife and I trusted Jim Roberts of Jim Roberts Construction to build our dream lake home.  We never built a home before and were the true definition of “newbies.”  Jim, Eric, and Lauren were truly awesome to work with!  After the unfortunate passing of Mr. Roberts, Eric immediately took over as General Contractor.  Eric’s integrity, professionalism, and leadership skills immediately stood out to us.  The quality of work performed, project management, communication, responsiveness, and sensitivity to the relationship with our neighbors was beyond anything my wife and I could have hoped for.  I found Eric to have an uncanny knack for dealing with unforeseen problems and working with us to identify timely solution that were acceptable and budget friendly.

In closing, we are very pleased with our custom built lake home and very impressed with the workmanship and service of MB&D Magnuson Build & Design!  Without reservation, I can highly recommend Eric and his skillful team to anyone.  MB&D Magnuson Build & Design is a rare find indeed!

We would like to thank Eric Magnuson, the office staff, and all the professional subcontractors at Magnuson Build & Design who were involved in building our new home. We are so pleased with the quality, level of workmanship, and attention to detail that made the whole project come together. Jim Roberts Construction built our first home in 2005, which Eric was a part of.  When we were in the process to build another home, there was never a doubt that Jim Roberts Construction would be our contractor. Unfortunately, Jim passed away before we had a chance to talk to him about our new home. Jim would be proud that Eric, Jim’s mentee, has taken over Jim Robert’s legacy of building quality homes. We would recommend Eric and his team to anyone looking to build a new home.
